Role overview

We are seeking a motivated Building Surveyor to join our growing team. This role is open to both qualified Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and those actively working towards Chartered status. Faithorn Farrell Timms is committed to supporting professional development and will provide assistance towards APC accreditation where required.


You will work collaboratively with clients to build, maintain, and improve properties for the benefit of residents and the wider community, delivering projects to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit planning and building regulations applications.
  • Produce specifications for tender, carry out tender analysis, and issue reports.
  • Support senior staff in Party Wall matters (as adjoining owner’s surveyor, building owner’s surveyor, or agreed surveyor).
  • Manage projects, including stock condition surveys and EPCs.
  • Assist with contract administration duties under JCT and other contract forms.
  • Undertake site inspections, surveys, and defect diagnosis.
  • Carry out detailed site investigations (including opening-up and testing).
  • Produce accurate, high-quality reports (condition, defect, feasibility) with recommendations.
  • Monitor project progress and attend/chair meetings with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Skills and qualifications

  • Degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline (essential)
  • Actively working towards Chartered status
  • Demonstrable experience in consultancy-based building surveying
  • Strong knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and defects
  • Experience preparing specifications and schedules of work
  • Working knowledge of contract administration, particularly JCT contracts
  • Understanding of planning and building regulations processes
  • Proven experience undertaking site inspections and reporting
  • Ability to produce detailed technical reports independently
  • Excellent communication skills with experience engaging clients and stakeholders
  • Party Wall experience (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential)
