Has the Procurement Act delivered?
At our recent South East Consortium Procurement AM session, PA23: Is It Working?, we asked attendees whether the Procurement Act has created a simpler, more flexible and more effective public procurement environment.

While these results may seem challenging, perhaps they shouldn’t come as a surprise.
The Procurement Act has introduced significant change across the sector, but legislation alone doesn’t transform procurement outcomes overnight. Real change comes through implementation, collaboration and most importantly, planning.
One of the strongest themes from our discussion was that successful procurement starts long before a tender is published. Organisations that invest time in planning, stakeholder engagement and market preparation are often best placed to realise the opportunities that the new regime offers.
The Procurement Act provides the framework. The challenge and opportunity are ensuring we have the processes and behaviours in place to make the most of it.
