The project
Faithorn Farrell Timms LLP were appointed to deliver a comprehensive fire safety compliance programme for the London Borough of Haringey, including Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Door Surveys, Fire Consultancy, Quality Assurance, Contract Administration and Principal Designer services.
Our role
Working in collaboration with In-Line Safety Ltd and LBH stakeholders, we developed a programme that operated at least one month ahead of schedule, ensuring continuous compliance. Resident engagement was managed through advanced notifications, enabling access to properties while addressing any concerns.
We produced detailed Action Plans for each block, forming the foundation for future Schedules of Works, while undertaking quality assessments to ensure all works complied with legislative requirements, manufacturer guidance and industry standards. To address a backlog of overdue assessments, we mobilised additional qualified Fire Risk Assessors alongside senior project management oversight.
The programme was carefully structured to recover overdue assessments while maintaining ongoing compliance, supported by a parallel Fire Door Assessment programme across high-rise residential buildings. This included quarterly communal door inspections and annual flat entrance door surveys, with communication managed directly by our team to maximise access.
Our Contract Administration team also oversaw the delivery of remedial works, including complex and high-value projects requiring specialist fire engineering input, ensuring a coordinated and compliant approach throughout.
The challenges
At appointment, the programme was significantly out of date, with numerous blocks requiring urgent Fire Risk Assessments. The condition of parts of the housing stock required intrusive inspections to inform robust and detailed specifications for remedial works. In parallel, close coordination was needed with Haringey’s internal Fire Risk Assessors to ensure consistency in the identification and categorisation of non-conformities.
Added value
Our integrated delivery ensured that assessment findings were efficiently translated into coordinated remedial actions, improving overall programme control and long-term compliance.
The outcome
By the end of our appointment, the London Borough of Haringey had achieved 100% compliance across both Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Door Survey programmes, with a robust system in place to sustain this position going forward.
