UK sanctions Israeli settlements
The UK Government has announced economic sanctions against businesses in Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Eleven other countries have announced similar measures. The Israeli Government has condemned the action.
Ed Sheeran’s US tour has also been disrupted after support acts withdrew in solidarity with Macklemore, following his removal from the tour after speaking publicly about the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.

- Give thanks for governments taking action to protect Palestinians.
- For peace and reconciliation in the Holy Land.
Artificial Intelligence
AI leaders are calling for greater outside regulation amid concerns about AI’s impact on human rights and society. UK ministers are considering new laws, while others remain focused on the economic opportunities AI could bring.

- Give thanks for those seeking responsible AI development.
- For wisdom for leaders to prioritise people at risk of harm over financial interests.
The future of the United Kingdom
Political leaders from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have met to discuss concerns about Westminster and the possibility of constitutional change.
Pray:
- For honest conversations about how government can be improved.
- For kindness, listening and truthfulness between those who want change and those who do not.
Political party donations
Calls to cap political donations continue, following large donations to Reform UK and a Channel 4 investigation involving discussions about potential foreign funding.
Pray:
- For wisdom and integrity in our political systems, and for government that serves everyone fairly.
In Parliament this week
House of Commons
The Commons is in conference recess and will return on 12 October.
House of Lords
The Lords are examining:
- How increased defence spending could affect the welfare budget.
- How extreme weather may affect the UK’s food supply.
- The impact of gambling advertising, particularly on under-18s.
The Representation of the People Bill, which would give 16- and 17-year-olds the vote in all UK elections, is scheduled for its second reading.

stand with the oppressed and protect those in need.
Hear the cries of those suffering in the Holy Land.
Help us amplify voices that are silenced and ignored.
Give our governments wisdom as they respond to AI and technology,
and help us build relationships based on justice and accountability.
Protect us from the greed that destroys lives,
and help us listen to people of every age and background.
Give us grace to meet every challenge and opportunity with love.
